Council Information

The King Island Council's role is to undertake and to be accountable for the planning, direction and management of resources to meet the present and future needs of the community.

King Island is administered by a progressive team of democratically elected Councillors (9) and appointed professional staff. The King Island Council's emphasis is on people - servicing their requirements both for today and into the future. The major objective is to manage the financial and physical resources of the council to ensure efficient services at the highest possible level.

The Council's policy of community consultation and involvement is aimed at making King Island a better place to live and work. Residents and visitors are welcome to participate in the activities of Council and your involvement in community affairs is both encouraged and greatly appreciated.

The Council's Vision Statement:

To preserve and improve the 'King Island Way' including freedom of opportunities, community friendliness along with personal and industry security in an environmentally sustainable way appropriate to King Island
