A New Recreation Plan for King Island

After much consultation with community and sporting groups a new recreation plan for King Island has been drafted.  The King Island Recreation Plan DRAFT King Island Recreation Plan September 2008 DRAFT%20King%20Island%20Recreation%20Plan%20September%202008 (487 kb) identifies:

  • proposed actions to improve and modernise existing facilities,
  • recreation programs & activities and
  • support requirements to those providing recreation opportunities.

A feasibility study for the Currie Multi-Purpose Recreation Complex DRAFT Currie Multi-Purpose Recreation Complex - Feasibility Study DRAFT%20Currie%20Multi-Purpose%20Recreation%20Complex%20-%20Feasibility%20Study (862 kb) has also been completed, which outlines a proposal to upgrade the football change room facilities at the Currie oval and the tennis clubrooms.

Comments and feedback are to be provided to the Community Development Officer, Ms Karen Taplin by close of business on Wednesday 15th October 2008.

Phoenix House

Phoenix House is a house available to community groups who need to hold meetings, activities etc in a homely environment with all the facilities of a regular house.

The House can be hired either as a one-off or on a regular basis for $5 for the first two hours and $1 per hour after that for individuals, or $5 per hour for organisations.

The House has kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom, with tea, coffee and cooking facilities available.  There is also television, CD player, computers (no internet) and a fenced yard with child proof gate.
